Small Floating Art Studios Sail around Europe

Nowadays, a lot of creative professionals choose to leave the boundaries of classical places for work in favor to work-on-the-go. Starting from pop-up art studios and finishing by portable photography workshops, this tendency has created a large number of laboratory platforms and lead to the development of new technologies. Considering these approaches two artists Claudius Schulze and Maciej Markowicz have invented 2BOATS, which is also called a “floating photographic platform”. The point of the inventions is to put an original twist no traveling.

The 2BOATS concern centers around a particular couple of water vessels. Each boat seems not to be vast, but in fact, it is huge. In fact, these ships serve as a house transferring artists around Europe. The first floating house was invented by Schulze and looked like a rustic houseboat. It appears for a hammock-equipped hub for artistic personalities in order to hold a discussion about “vision, formation and the environment”, conduct meetings.

The following boat is Obscuraboat which was developed by Markowicz. Its second name is a “moving camera”, as it doubles its size like a camera obscura? One can find there a collection of photographs taken by Markowicz. It varies from portraits and fine art to negative prints and projections.

The vessels have different functions and design which inspire the visitors. During the voyage the artists will study urban lifestyle, the environment will take photographs. Their trip is a part of Ubermut Project which is an idea of visitBerlin and Hamburg Marketing. Since the launch of the project, two artists have embarked at Paris Photo and Amsterdam’s Unseen Photo Fair. In a few months, in June  2BOATS journey will come to the end at Hamburg Triennale of Photography.
